Saint Joseph the Worker’s Feast is May 1, and you need Saint Joseph meal ideas! Try this quick hack to give almost any meal a Saint Joseph Theme.

I tend to plan one month at a time, so when I turn my planner page and see a big feast on the very first day–! Well, I don’t have a lot of time to plan. So if you are like me and tomorrow’s feast snuck up on you, I have good news. There’s an easy way to celebrate.
Bread crumbs! There’s actually a tradition of celebrating this humble carpenter with bread crumbs. They are supposed to resemble sawdust, so they are especially appropriate for the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker.
Saint Joseph Meal Ideas
There are lots of ways to use bread crumbs. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Sprinkled on mac-n-cheese
- Breaded on fish or chicken
- Toasted with herbs and sprinkled over pasta
- Crab or shrimp cakes
- On a hotdish/casserole
- Toasted ravioli
- Mixed into roasted veggies with parmesan cheese
- You could also mix them into meatloaf or meatballs, but that will be more subtle.
So there are some Saint Joseph meal ideas for you! Alternatively, you can take this in a sweet direction instead. For dessert, try a cobbler or crumble with sweet crunchy crumbs on top, or something with graham cracker crumbs! Even some sweet crumbles on some yogurt would be a nice little treat.
Live Liturgically!
I love living liturgically, and especially celebrating the Saints in our meals. But I don’t think that you have to make a full-blown, five-course, ethnic dinner to do so! We can remember the Saints from day to day with little clever touches here and there that become traditions in our homes. And the easier, the better, I say!
